Alright, these images taken by Jonny are gorgeous and intense.
I did figure modeling when I was dancing professionally, then stepped away from it for years. It was Ahna who pulled me back in. She talked me into modeling with her for a rain shoot, and something in me clicked. I was being creative in front of the camera instead of behind it. And it was therapeutic dealing with my body image as I move into a 60+ year old skin suit (as Ahna calls it).
Since then we’ve modeled together a number of times, and she continues to push me in the best ways. Her classical instincts match naturally with the kind of aesthetic I’m drawn to, the kind that lives somewhere between myth and the everyday.
These images were created with photographer Jonny Edwards (@jonnycreative). Working with him and Ahna Green together felt like stepping into a small, self-contained world. The space felt organic, the poses were raw. Nothing practiced. Just our bodies and a sense of trust. That rawness is reflected in the fact that these images are for the most part unedited. For me, the results feel almost like an unfinished and forgotten classical painting.
Being in front of the camera feels like a growth experience. There’s something vulnerable in letting yourself be shaped by someone else’s eye, especially when you’re used to being the one behind the camera. It asks you to let go of the protective layer and stay open to whatever happens. And I love that nothing was particularly planned. It’s just you and your body showing up with people whose talent and vision you trust. It was really a privilege to work with these two creatives who are completely willing to play in that space and make some art.
