Most of the images in this blog are from test shoots. I have a few posts of client shoots, but not many. This session in particular was completely experimental and utilizes a technique called shutter drag. Essentially it’s a long exposure (from half a second to three seconds) combined with flash.Â
You’ll notice that there is a somewhat ghostly image which is captured while the camera shutter is open and then a more sharply focused image that is imprinted on the sensor when the flash goes off.Â
Christina suggested that we give this a try and I had never done it before. I had a vague idea as to how to do it and eventually started to get things dialed in. Now that I’ve done it once, I have a sense for what needs to be done differently in the future and I can visualize some of the creative possibilities. This is definitely something I’ll be exploring in the future.Â
