If you follow me, you know I don’t shoot outside often. I hate not having control over my light. It’s always a challenge for me. So I actually put off looking at these photos for over a month. I uploaded them to my computer after the shoot and left them. I didn’t think that I captured anything I would like and I couldn’t bring myself to take the time to look at them.
Finally this week I opened them up and started culling through them. I think some of them are stunning and now I’m asking myself why I don’t shoot outside more often. But in that moment during the shoot, I was just frustrated. In retrospect, I realize that I have to acknowledge that I don’t have control over my light like I do in the studio and find ways to work creatively with the light that I have available. If I look for opportunities, they will present themselves, just like they did this particular day.
Solenne was fantastic. She has a very classical style of posing that I really like. But I think some of the images I like most are ones that are largely unposed or where I’ve caught her between poses.
