“Inspired by my own liberating experience in front of the camera, I opened Lolo’s Boudoir studio in 2004 as a place for women’s self-discovery. Since then women of all ages, stages and walks of life have come to be photographed by me, nude.
“Unveiled reveals the unexpected interplay between photography and healing, between seer and seen, and what it takes to expose, and ultimately find oneself. This work shares how I’ve used the power of the camera to help women dismantle shame, insecurity and doubt, so they can emerge in their unguarded, untamed human splendor.
“These images let you be a voyeur and experience women’s most private unveiling. I hope you will laugh, cry and recognize yourself as you witness these women uncovering and recovering lost, discarded and disowned parts of themselves.
“While most photography of women has been dominated by the male gaze, this book is about women looking at themselves. It is a timely and thrilling tribute, a contemporary rite of passage for women awakening to their own skin and aliveness. It offers an important artistic contribution to a cultural dialog about women and the ownership of our bodies – and our lives.
“Unveiled is everywoman’s story.
