What we’re about
This is a collaborative group of aspiring photographer, models, and stylists who want to practice their skills and build their portfolio in friendly supportive environment.
Photographers: Over time we’ll explore a wide range of themes related to capturing your subjects in a way that makes them look their very best. You’ll learn how to use angles, lenses, and lighting that flatter your model, regardless their shape or size. You’ll learn how to communicate and direct your model, so they feel confident and can give you the best shot possible.
Models: Posing is not easy and we’ll help you develop the confidence and skills you need to do it right in a safe comfortable environment. You’ll learn the nuances of beauty, fashion and business poses and discover tricks and techniques that showcase your unique features in the best way possible.
Stylists (hair and makeup): Come and practice your craft, build your experience and your portfolio.
We’ll spend time at each Meetup to do lots of shooting. The purpose of the group is not just to learn, but to walk away with great photos that you can use to build a stunning portfolio for yourself.
Each Meetup will explore a facet of portrait photography. We’ll begin with a short tutorial around the particular theme or style we’ll be shooting so that everyone has a clear direction in terms of how to approach the shoot, then we’ll get to work practicing those photography and posing skills. Before we leave, we’ll sit down and do a short critique of our work so we can improve even more the next time around. We’ll shoot in a variety of environments, both studio and natural settings.
You’re welcome to join the group regardless your experience level. There are only two requirements: 1) Come with an attitude of openness, collaboration, and respect. 2) Share your photos with the models, so they can use them in their portfolios. We’ll make this easy for you.
We welcome models of all all genders, ages, shapes and sizes. No experience required; we’re here to learn. Photographers, you will get the most out of the Meetup if you have a DSLR or equivalent, but this is not required. If you are highly professional photographer or model, we’d love to have you come, have some fun, and share your knowledge with the group.

See all- Fashion Implied/Fine Art with Jamie Bauern3777 Quentin St, Denver, CO$190.00
Join me for a three-hour photoshoot on Saturday, May 11th, from 9am to noon with traveling model Jamie Lee Bauern. I first shot with Jamie four years ago and was impressed with her expressiveness and physicality. I've been waiting for her to come back to Denver ever since so we could shoot again.
Jamie is extremely versatile and in this session with Jamie, we'll keep the theme open. You can shoot anything from portrait, fashion, and boudoir to implied or art nude. This is an opportunity for you to build your skills and portfolios with a talented model.
We'll do two natural light sets in the styled penthouse at RAW Photographic Studios and then two additional sets in the studio with a large white cyc wall and flash. In the studio I'll provide the lights and a flash trigger. Everyone will have a chance to do some one-on-one shooting for each set. You'll get some great shots for your portfolios, and you'll benefit from watching the other photographers work. No previous experience is required. I'll provide you with lighting setups and advice and Jamie is happy to strike a pose or take direction.
Follow Jamie on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/jamieleebauern/ or https://www.instagram.com/jamie_bauern/
It will be a supportive, judgment-free environment. Bring your camera, memory card, and a fully charged battery, and that's pretty much all you need. Before you come, learn how to set your shutter speed, aperture, and ISO in manual mode for your camera.
There is a cost of $190 to cover studio rental and model fees. Refunds will only be issued in the event of cancellation. There will be four photographers only. These events always fill up quickly, so register ASAP.
PS She'll be in Denver for five days and I'll be booking her for some one-on-one shooting myself. If you want to set up a private booking with her, contact her through Instagram.
- Dance/Flexibility/Art Nude with Viktoria Hofstaeder3777 Quentin St, Denver, CO$199.00
Join me for a photoshoot on Saturday, May 11th, from 10 am to 12:30 with international traveling dancer/model Viktoria Hofstaeder. My first career was in classical ballet, so I love working with dancers. Not only do they express physicality in a unique way, they also understand the use of line, space, and visual aesthetics.
Viktoria is a full-time international model and professional ballerina. Originally from Austria, she spends her time between LA and Vienna. She's a talented dancer with incredible flexibility. This is a unique shooting opportunity to build your skills and portfolios.
You're not confined to shooting only dance. Beyond flexibility and dance, Viktoria is willing to fine art nude as well. She'll bring pointe shoes and a classical ballet costume, but she will not be doing jumps for this shoot.
We'll be shooting in the large studio at RAW Photographic Studios with a seamless white cyc wall and flash. I'll provide the lights and a flash trigger and will produce three unique lighting setups. We'll do three sets and everyone will have a chance to do some one-on-one shooting for each set. No previous experience is required. Bring any ideas you have. Viktoria and I can guide you through the process of creating engaging shots.
