The Big Black Hat

Ahna is one of my favorite collaborators. I rented this warehouse so we could do some suspension, but Ahna showed up with a big black hat, so we did some fashion(?) shots in the space.

The space was grungy and grey. If it wasn’t for the little bit of color in her boots, it almost looked like these were shot in black and white. But the space was filled with texture and atmosphere, something I don’t have in the studio.

I didn’t use any strobe for these shots. It was an overcast morning and these nice big windows provided some soft light. I shot a little wide, 35mm or wider to create a better sense of the depth of this cavernous space.
